WILDCAT FUND DONORS HONOR NU STUDENT-ATHLETES ON NATIONAL STUDENT-ATHLETE DAYApril 6, 2015
Evanston, Ill --- On April 6, 2015, 226 Northwestern supporters honored the efforts of current NU student-athletes by making a gift to the Wildcat Fund on National Student-Athlete Day. These outstanding donors helped surpass our goal of 220 participants while contributing more than $50,000 in recognition of our incredible young men and women. The overwhelming response was the largest number of donors ever for a one-day athletics campaign at NU.
Adding to the excitement, ‘Cats fans heard directly from some of the student-athletes themselves. Nandi Mehta (women’s soccer), Sam Shropshire (men’s tennis) and Alex Cohen (women’s basketball) sent video messages to NU supporters asking them to help reach a goal of 220 contributions – one for each of Northwestern’s 2013-14 Academic All-Big Ten honorees. Throughout the day, coaches, student-athletes and the NU community posted messages using #NU494 to encourage support and recognition of the daily commitment of NU’s 494 student-athletes.
National Student-Athlete Day is traditionally an opportunity recognize the outstanding achievements of all student-athletes who excel academically and athletically, while positively impacting their local and campus communities.
